reuse (discarded objects or material) in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original.
ACTIVITY
Open the Section 1 Workbook. Read this entire activity including the questions posed.
In this section you will be identifying item(s) you would like to repurpose. Then, you will research how the item(s) may be repurposed.
In your workbook, start to gather information about your item, using the space provided to record your thoughts and research:
What item(s) would you like to repurpose? How did you decide on that/those item(s)?
What qualities does your item have that makes it a good choice for repurposing? What qualities will make it difficult for repurposing?
Research to determine how the item might be repurposed. Search online platforms (Pinterest, Bluprint, web browser, etc…) using the term “upcycling” + your item to get inspiration and ideas. You are NOT required to choose an idea that exists.
What will be the new purpose for your item(s)? Is the idea functional or decorative? Describe your idea in as much detail as possible as if you were describing it to someone who has no idea what it is!For whom will you be making this item? What might they need from this up cycled item?
Complete the single-point rubric for this section at the bottom of your workbook.
